Above you can see me on my way to work, behind me on the sled is my desktop computer including tube screen. My company has been promising me a laptop someday for years now;))
every day again
Yesterday morning I was about to ride my bike to work when I opened the front door and ... woahh ... at least 10cm of fresh snow and of course nothing cleared!
How also, with the snow removal vehicle that the city of Nuremberg maintains? A few weeks ago I even saw it throw tons of snow at the feet of pedestrians on the Berliner Ring. From the street to the footpath and until entire ski slopes had formed there! When it was gone, huge hordes of sprightly male seniors came running out of their hiding places and cleared the snow from the footpath back onto the street with their wooden shovels suitable for Finland. Afterwards you will be waved to each other in a friendly manner, because after all they have once again cheated the city cleaning service and shown who is the boss in the house! A natural cycle, no wonder that the poor lonely snow car has to start all over again!
But otherwise, our local “snow shoveling guerrilla” is so well organized that many Bundeswehr companies would bow their heads with envy. It is not uncommon for long traffic jams to form on the snow-covered main road and the motorists look longingly in my direction while I hop past on the cleanly cleaned footpath, sterilized by all snow molecules, like a young deer 😉
I have to cancel my planned run & bike training with Iwan because it was snowing again last night. We actually wanted to go to the zoo together. Two athletes on a mountain bike, one of us can rest on it while the other runs.
Instead I'm going to unpack my cross-country skis again this afternoon and somehow I'm really looking forward to it !!! Untouched and snow-covered forest paths that are just waiting for my skis to trudge over them, plus transcendental music and I won't come back before dawn.
Later in the evening all you have to do is survive the swimming training! On Wednesday I had been there for over a month and was only released from the pool by Thomas, our trainer, after completing four kilometers. Of course, he means well, as he always tries to convey to me. I'm also tempted to believe him ... sometimes at least 🙂
Charity run on Saturday
As announced in the last post, I will now start at the Rothsee run on Saturday.
In the meantime, word got around a bit and I hope that many good runners will pass me. After all, I want to donate something too! If, unexpectedly, whole bus loads of local top runners turn up, my plan B comes into effect. Then I just run across the frozen lake and take a short cut ... haha
Have a nice Weekend!
