At the beginning of the third week there was a lot going on at work. On Wednesday we spent half the day with friends and training had to be pushed aside a bit. There are days like that and they just have to be sometimes, if no training is possible, then that's the way it is. On the contrary, we were in the water park all Wednesday afternoon and that was much better! ๐
That's why I was in Lichtenfels at the weekend, with Captain Chaos and Co., and I never have to worry about too little training there, mostly I have to restrain myself rather than complete the complete program of the others ๐ The "highlight" was our pair training on Saturday, it was a lot of fun.
The first three weeks were marked by a lot of bike rides, a few runs, most of them a bit faster, and the swimming training is only slowly getting going. Some may wonder about the intensity of running compared to the rest. My intention behind this is this: I get most of the basics from cycling. The body doesn't care whether it is jumping on the saddle or running over the gravel, the cardiovascular system works in both cases. I just enjoy running at that pace, the advantage is that the speed does not drop, on the contrary, and that although the amount of running is relatively low. Of course, I also do the long and slow runs, but only when it gets colder and the winter block begins. However, you should be careful, too many brisk runs, especially if you are not used to it, can quickly lead to overload! So every now and then a day or two break from running.
All in all, of course, the more intensive units of the basic endurance of the body also benefit. The training focus of these units is different, but the basis is ultimately based on all the sporting activities that you do throughout the day. Someone who trains 10 hours a week quite intensively does not have to have less foundation than their colleague who does 15 hours and trains a little less intensively. World class runners, for example, usually never train more than 12-14 hours a week, and that includes 2:10 marathon runners! It would never occur to anyone that these runners have โlittleโ basics.
The current week is then a week of rest, after three weeks of training I treat myself to a little break. Specifically, this means reducing the scope, but the intensity remains the same.
