Tips for competition clothing

This should be avoided while running, otherwise all the gels will slip out!

Soon it will be that time again, the season highlight is approaching and many of you are starting one of the upcoming long distances. Here are some of my experiences with clothing choices over the years. Maybe one or the other tips will help you:

Wear two-piece! (If you have digestive problems you can't get a one-piece off quickly enough 😉 and it rubs your shoulder after a few hours. With Neoverbot you swim in shorts. In this case, the girls should use the one-piece because the two-piece is in the water (due to the fluttering top) STRONG brakes.

The Abdominal area may not constricted too tight This applies to both trousers (keyword: compression) and bib number straps. If both are too tight around the stomach, it is guaranteed to cause digestive problems mentioned above - trust me!

Clothes have to look great or at least you like it, because then you wear it with pride, you feel good in it and you also run faster - psychology 🙂

Big and / or heavy athletes wear headsweats and everyone else can also wear closed hats. With the former, it is important that the increased body heat produced by them can escape upwards. Without a headgear I would not recommend it either. Otherwise you will sweat in your eyes, and anything that prevents or distracts you from putting one foot in front of the other slows you down. Incidentally, this also applies to Sunglasses which always slide down on the nose when cycling and want to be pushed up again by hand! You leave the aero position every time you push your glasses up again with your hand, and you can do that quickly over 100 times while cycling!

Your clothing should be somewhere a pocket that you can get at without dislocating your shoulders. Some pockets in the jerseys are positioned so stupidly that you can hardly get them while running. Remember, from km 20 every move is too much for you! 1-2 gels should also always be worn as a reserve on the body. In an emergency, you can simply place gels on the side of your pants. To do this, simply fold the gel (so it doesn't slip out) and insert it under the seam between the pants and thighs. et voila - you have a functioning bag! I wouldn't put drinking bottles in there, though, that looks a bit strange 😉

Last but not least, for all Garmin owners. There is a wheel adapter for the Forerunner. I think it's best to put the Garmin somewhere on the bike and then take it with me for a run. Such an adapter makes it very easy. That once cost me a 4:39. Because it took me forever to fumble the clock, then it was 4:40 😉
It has the advantage that you don't have to take the watch with you for swimming, where it is partly not waterproof.

bang in!
