Book signing Klagenfurt

Last weekend we had a lot to do at the Ironman Klagenfurt, not only because Bennie started on Sunday, no, the day before a book signing was organized at the information booth at the fair. First of all, we have been spared the embarrassment that nobody shows up. On the contrary, we were overwhelmed by the interest shown by the visitors.

Thanks to radio presenter Richard, who mixed up the then still young triathlon scene with Bennie at the beginning of the 90s, and his tireless efforts, all the books were gone within an hour. We had the opportunity to exchange ideas with interesting athletes, companions and family members on the subject of passion for sport and work. The participants brought with them the most diverse requirements for participating in the race.

For some, just getting there was the biggest challenge in a season marked by injuries, while others, such as Markus Fachbach, viewed the Hawaii qualification as a primary goal. Unfortunately, it wasn't enough for the likeable athlete from the Commerzbank team in the end. It wasn't the placement to blame, but the new rules for qualifying for the professionals. It was tragic that it was the peak time of his Commerzbank team mate Marino Vanhoenacker that cost Markus Fachbach the quality he believed to be safe. In order to reach the qualification, the fastest athletes have to reach the goal within a 5%igen time premium after the winning time. If they do not do that, there will be no qualification, even if they were sufficiently well placed in the overall standings.

If you feel like dropping by, we'll also be at the Challenge Roth on July 17th. (11 a.m. - 12 p.m. in the Genniges bookstore and in the afternoon at the fair)
Bennie is at Ironman Switzerland on the last weekend in July and we are both on site at Ironman Regensburg. We're only happy to have visitors, you don't have to buy a book either 😉

Have a nice Weekend!
