Week of rest in the Orient

Thomas at work

Last week I took a short break from training and visited my brother Thomas with Julia on a cruise ship in the Orient. He works there as a bike guide. While we moored somewhere else every day, I was always allowed to accompany Thomas and got to know all the interesting cities by bike, Muscat (Oman), Abu Dhabi, Bahrain and Dubai.

Apart from some exercise therapy, we mainly let the sun shine on our stomachs. And because of the delicious food on board, it got rounder and rounder. This week salad week !!!

in Muscat, in front of a part of the palace that actually covers half the city

Abu Dhabi

The tour in Bahrain became really interesting, in the middle of the day of celebration and prayer in honor of Muhammad. Here we were escorted by the police, who always switched all traffic lights in front of us to green.

In Dubai we couldn't get out of the superlatives. On the tallest building in the world, in front of the most expensive hotel in the world and in the evening shopping in the largest mall in the world. Thank goodness the prices in there weren't the juiciest in the world either, at least not in all stores, so I could take a little souvenir with me 😉

Burj Khalifa over 800m high!

... and here the view from above, hard to capture in the digicam
But there was still time for a little swim

nice start to the week!
