Apart from Hawaii in October, Michael did the last summer long distance of my athletes yesterday at the Ironman New York. After swimming in the Hudson River was on the brink the day before (due to contamination of the water, don't ask me what), it finally took place.
After a good swim, the Hudson River washed him ashore after 45 minutes. Although the current apparently helped a little. It was blowing hard on the bike and not only made life difficult for Michael. After 5:24 hours it was off to the running track. If you haven't been knocked out by this point, it was guaranteed after the first 25km with almost 500 meters of altitude. This also explains the slow marathon times of the professionals. Finally, after 3:50 hours with a total time of 10:06 hours, he crossed the finish line in 89th overall and in 8th place in his age group.
The long-awaited dream of Ironman Hawaii has come true.
Congratulations Michael !!
