... somehow got numb today after I noticed that the new shoes are cut quite tight. Now I can't even put a blanket over it without being constantly reminded of my sore toe! I sincerely hope that it's not because I'm growing again 😉
It is difficult enough to get proper shoes in size 13, with even larger shoes the air slowly becomes tight.
In general, I only run lightweight trainers with no support and no great cushioning. I think the running behavior is so much more direct and I don't have any heavy blocks on my leg. If you are more of a forefoot or metatarsal runner, they are definitely an alternative worth considering, which may be more suitable for you than normal running shoes with extreme cushioning, which make sensible rolling behavior very difficult and are more geared towards heel runners.
However, one should be careful when switching, some cannot tolerate shoes without cushioning and develop knee and other joint problems. So just buy 1 pair and test them on short distances, ie for fast units or short paddock runs. If you notice that you can handle it, do a few medium-length runs with it. If you like the weight difference and you are guaranteed to notice it, then you have found your new shoes 🙂 And from your own experience, their benefits will also be reflected in faster running times in the long run.
Have a nice Weekend!
