krelli:
So Dorian, first of all, congratulations on your strong season so far. And the crowning glory so far was the challenge in which you were able to put an 8:19 on the floor, in really tough conditions.
I know you from the past too, so I was able to watch your development. I think it only really started when you started working for your new trainer? What has changed for you compared to before?
Dorian:
I joined my current coach Mario Huys after a disappointing season in 2010. He completely changed my training. Before that I was just too impatient and thought I could improve my development faster with very hard units. We are now in the 2nd year of a 4 year plan to get used to the size and intensity required for top placements. I now train significantly more in the GA1 area and complete technical training in all disciplines. Most of the time in the year I move between 20 and 25 hours a week.
krelli:
Where is your focus currently, still on the middle distance or already on the long distance with a view of Hawaii in the future?
Dorian:
At the moment I'm training for both distances, so I can do more high-class races and learn more. I think that both distances combine well. But in the future the focus will be on a long distance in summer and Hawaii in October. If you want to be at the forefront of the long distances, you also have to have the speed to be among the frontrunners in the middle distances.
krelli:
Although you have no weaknesses, I think that running has always been your strength. Of course, everyone now wants to know how do you run a 2:45 marathon behind the scenes? How do you prepare for it?

Dorian:
Running has always been the easiest for me. In the meantime I have had many running competitions and intensive speed units in my legs. At the moment, however, I am only doing the minimal training in running because I want to improve my swimming and cycling first. The 2:45 even surprised me! This year I did a lot of endurance runs for an hour. There were also some cross-country runs as intensive units. Most of the time I didn't run more than 50km a week. From 4 weeks before the challenge, I completed almost half of my kilometers at the competition pace.
krelli:
What does the further planning hold for you this year and do you already know what you are aiming for in 2013?
Dorian:
I will still start at Ironman Sweden. I don't know how it will go on after that. In 2013 I want to close the gap to the best in the middle distance. I will probably try to qualify for Hawaii, but only if it can be mastered with a normal competitive program. If I start on a fast course, I want to push my best time below 8:10.
krelli:
Are you still looking for sponsors or who do you work with? I also want your new one again Facebook site advertise 🙂
Dorian:
I have been working with my loyal sponsor since 2009 Window company Hapa together. I am still looking for additional sponsors for the next season, in which I would like to contest more international races.
thanks for the interview Dorian and good luck!
Rock'n roll
