The author of this blog and also the organizer of yesterday's VFL time trial was shocked yesterday. Despite adverse wind conditions, new course records were set for both women and men yesterday!
You can find the results at: http://www.vfl-triteam.de/ or further down in my mail ...
But first everything from the beginning. Shortly after 6 p.m. I came to the start and had to find out that I was one of the last, although the meeting point was set at 6.30 p.m., half of the starting field was already in full gear or on their bikes ... so next time we should Move the meeting time to the front.
Thanks to my numerous helpers this time, Julia, Patricia, Ruth, Timo, Thomas and, above all, the extremely professionally equipped timekeeper Jörg and Barbara, we had the organization and the race under control at all times. Jörg had even carted off a starting light, wow ... what a great thing!
We started at 7 p.m. sharp, with the first lady and each other starter 30 seconds behind. This short distance guaranteed some daring duels. This reached a sad climax when Markus Schattner fell in the roundabout with a lactate-laden blood thirst, just as he wanted to reduce the distance to the man in front even further. Despite this mishap, which luckily nothing happened except a few abrasions, he came in fourth with a new personal best!
After all starters were sent out on the track, the last one this year was Thomas Herrmann (our previous year's winner), THE DUEL started.
Bennie Lindberg, a successful professional triathlete in the nineties and trainer of numerous triathlon champions (e.g. Stefan Holzner) against the author: Michael Krell. According to his own statements, Bennie wanted to act as "my rabbit" and let himself be overtaken. Apparently he has forgotten that because of the lactate accumulation on the route! 🙂
Halfway through the roundabout, I was almost up to Bennie. And when he saw that, he accelerated! Completely taken by surprise by this maneuver, the author drove for his life in order not to let the distance to Bennie grow again.
Well, after the fastest crossed the finish line (unfortunately too fast for both of us 😉 nothing came for a long time ... but then you saw Bennie and immediately behind him "krelli" 10 seconds apart !!!
Unfortunately, I could not catch up with him, but within 10 seconds I got to him ... hoho 😉
So now to the real top performances yesterday:
Although Thomas Herrmann drove almost the same time as last year, this time he was “only” fifth in the overall standings. This speaks for the performance density of the event, which was often mentioned yesterday.
Markus Schattner finished fourth despite his crash! Like two other drivers after him, Markus even held the new course record for a short time (approx. 20 seconds) before he was immediately set again by the man behind him! Third was Oliver Zimmermann and second was Markus Beck.
The fastest yesterday was ultimately the “young and wild Anton Koller” from Munich! In a fabulous time of 27:34 to 21km, that corresponds to an average of 45.69 km / h.
All hats off !!! (The picture above is also of Anton, but an old one, THAT is not his bike with which he won yesterday !! 😉
It was no less exciting for the women, “our youngest” Jennifer Schmidt came in third, although this was her time trial premiere! The first place was fiercely fought between the veteran Brigitte Beil, the second was and Sandra Körner. Sandra was able to achieve victory yesterday in a new record time, her time: 33:35, an average of 37.52 km / h !!
So it was great fun for us from the VFL to welcome you all, we hope you enjoyed it and that you will all come back next year !!
Phew ... after I was knocked out last night, I have to do the Rothsee pair training with my buddy Steffen today. Dorian signed up too. 3km swim, once rothrround full throttle and then run 12km ... Help!
