Lukas has now also qualified for the Ironman World Championships in Hawaii. Congratulations !! With six starters in October so far, I have another illustrious group at the finish line this year.
At this point it should be mentioned again that it feels more and more difficult to get a Hawaii slot. I can still remember my qualification back then in Zurich. Ok, the weather was horrible and rained all day, but in the end a time of 9:20 hours brought me 4th place in the AK. Depending on the race, these times have moved down another 5-15 minutes. It doesn't have to be a bad development now. In my opinion, it describes a normal learning curve. Many amateurs train professionals today as they did then and put a lot of time and passion into their hobby.
Ultimately, it upholds the myth of the race on the Pacific island. If the qualification were too easy or if the race were no longer in Hawaii, it would no longer have the status it still enjoys today.
