The duel of the giants !!

Hi Guys,

today the one Start of a small series to motivate and to smile. Here is the first of the three parts:

Triathlon alone can fill entire books. In addition to the historic duels and highly polished finish lines at the very front of the field, there are also duels on the fringes that are a lot more exciting 🙂

A good example about Triathlon fanatics are Harry and Bernd. Both are two real blood warriors, that is, they duel on the racetrack but also outside of it and both fight each other to the limit (literally 😉 Both have already made so many bets against each other that I can't even count them anymore. For the same reason I also don't tell all the stories in life that I've heard from Harry and Bernd.
In the following I'll try anyway. Maybe it motivates one or the other to go outside the door again this time of year:

Harry is really unique. To get used to his new aero helmet, he wore it while driving, for example. Now imagine you are standing at the traffic lights and the driver in the car next to you is wearing something like that, what do you think? ... exactly
In addition, he even tested the helmet while swimming. In the best case, he would have saved the changeover time! That's what I call the pioneering spirit! Unfortunately, the lifeguard forbade him to take the test after the second lane, well ... there were always people who opposed progress.

Above in the picture you can see Harry crossing the finish line at the Ironman Zurich, there was a trip to Hawaii to win for the most beautiful finisher photo, that's why Harry changed into his neo again shortly before the finish and put his aero helmet over it (a feat of strength I wouldn't be able to do it at the end of such a race;) ... unfortunately he only finished second!

Harry basically doesn't believe in "non-breathable clothes", he would like to run around in a cycling jersey all day. He prefers to wear functional underwear with the Ironman logo on it… .hmm, if I remember correctly, I've never seen him without this logo 🙂
The story is legendary when he forgot his “good office set” (of which he actually only has one) at home and went to work with cycling shorts and cycling jersey. So far so good, normally nobody would be bothered by it. But on that day a completely unexpected meeting was arranged by Harry. Harry trotted off to the meeting room, but the secretary (oh wonder 😉) didn't let him into the room. So he went to the office to look for a colleague in his dress size. His victim was quickly found, the trainee! This one Harry then had to “borrow” his pants and shirt and from then on sat at his desk with Harrie's bicycle set and didn't even dare to go to the toilet. Around 4:30 p.m. Harry left the meeting with the words: “My trainee has to catch the bus and needs his clothes, I have to go. "

Bernd on the other hand is the quieter of the two. Since I've known him, he has never (I swear!) Cleaned his bike. I can tell you the following anectode. At the Erlangen triathlon, Bernd was stopped by the referee with the following words: “My boy, would you like to cycle even faster?
He said: "Yes, of course, we all want that." He said: "Then bring your bike to a high gloss."
Just if he did that, he would be 10 minutes faster in the competition, as much additional weight as he is dragging around with him.

Bernd also rides his competition bike at any time of the year or day. I don't think he has anything else. So if you want to see him freeze on the aero bike in snow and -10 degrees in winter, you just have to come to our training trips. Speaking of freezing ... Bernd is still one of the old and tough school, ie he still starts in swimming trunks and a short camisole. It's good that there are still athletes who uphold tradition.

In addition, Bernd actually trains almost as much basic training as the professionals of our guild and has a fat burning system that would make Jan Ulrich cry. Equipped with a single carrot, it can easily cover 7 hours of cycling. For this reason, Bernd would also be the suitable candidate for the title of 10 times the Ironman distance !!

Now that I have introduced both of them, the next part will get down to business and I will report on the ludicrous duels and competitions between the two of them!

stay tuned!
