At the weekend we looked at the new 2013 models from Airstreeem and also test-driven some. In addition to the optics, I was particularly interested in the new Aero Type. A time trial machine in terms of appearance and rigidity, but a racing bike in terms of handling. Particularly interesting for triathletes who drive technically demanding competition routes, such as Nice, Wales or Zurich. A much more direct handling makes it quicker and easier to steer on climbing and downhill sections and the extreme stiffness of the steering head makes it super easy to roll straight on in the lane. The latter is an extremely important property, especially for aerodynamics.

Coming soon in Cycling shower in Nuremberg.
nice start to the week!

Hi, please explain that again. I thought agility and good handling (racing bike geometry) or good directional stability and directional stability (triathlon bikes) were two opposite extremes of this spectrum.
How can a bike fully achieve both at the same time? And what is the connection to aerodynamics?
Flo, good question that I'll get to the bottom of it again. I will contact you again with an update.

Ok, so the advantage of road bike handling is clear to you. In addition, it is extremely stiff, especially on the steering head, which in turn ensures smooth running and directional stability. In short, take a test drive 😉
