Only women are taking part in this year's Ironman World Championships in Hawaii. As most of you have probably noticed, the Ironman Corporation has divided the competition into a men's and women's race. These are held alternately in Hawaii and Nice every year.
Two of my athletes are starting in Hawaii this year – Gaby Mehrl and Myriam Ribcke. While it is the long-awaited premiere for Myriam, which she has worked diligently towards for many years, Gaby is actually starting in Hawaii for the second time. She was already competing on the Pacific island in 2016 and, in keeping with the occasion, a nice article about it appeared in the Mittelbayerische Zeitung.
Of course, I'm keeping my fingers crossed for both Myriam and Gaby for the race and I'm obviously very proud of both of them for what they've achieved through their hard work and discipline!
We'll go over the race strategy in advance and discuss things like pacing and nutrition, but the most important thing in Hawaii is to have fun and enjoy the whole thing.
Good luck and attack, the time will come soon.
