After every time I was hung up on the mountain by all the others on the last easy bike tours, the decision matured in me that it was time to start again with regular training. In addition, this also happened to me in the last races ... above you can see how I was pushed from 5th place by a "racing grandpa" just before the finish line at the Nuremberg city run π
No offense, that shows once again that age does not protect against performance! (by the way, I'm the one on the left in the picture ... haha)
It's been that time since Monday and I'll get used to the daily exercise again until the beginning of November before it really starts. Starting in November, Bennie will write me the killer plan for next year π
The time until then looks like this for this week, for example:
Monday:
30min running during the lunch break, brisk (if the run is not that long, you can easily increase your pace π
In the evening 45 minutes of swimming, lots of technique, through all layers and a maximum of 50 m crawl at a time, so that no major mistakes creep into the style as they always do as soon as you swim too long sets at the beginning of the season.
Tuesday:
45min running during the lunch break, had books in my backpack that I had to hand in to two different libraries (was the last rental day ag ... phew, initially felt strength training with the additional weight, but in the end I almost "flown" when all the books were out of the backpack disappeared.
Finished work on time and cycled with Mario for another 2 hours, at the end the pace increased slightly.
Wednesday:
30min running ABC at noon, hopping, sprints, etc ...
Swimming in the evening with coach Thomas, I still have to come up with an excuse why I have to go sooner π about 1 hour, a lot of technique, fin swimming, short crawl at the end. Although Thomas leads an iron regime, it is exactly the right thing for me. If I would swim all by myself every time, I wouldn't get a proper training session π
Thursday:
before work for strength training in the gym, 10 exercises with 2 sets of 10 repetitions each and out again immediately, duration approx. 40 minutes. What you can always do is: bench presses, pull-ups, squats or leg presses, triceps and calf machines, shoulder raises and lots of core stabilizers.
At lunchtime for a 40min run, at the beginning leisurely and at the end hard.
In the evening (optional), swimming at the university, but only if I still feel like it. But it's always fun there, quite relaxed and not compulsory π
Friday:
Free to run today, but cycling for 2-3 hours from the early afternoon, Iwan will definitely come with me again. It only gets really warm at 5 degrees π
in the evening for swimming with Thomas, similar program as on Wednesday.
Saturday:
Run for 1-1.5 hours in the morning, mainly basics and some speed at the end.
Sunday:
long bike tour, maybe 3 hours + 30min paddock run, if I'm still up for it.
in the evening gym + sauna
Man, that looks like you want to join the professionals - once you get used to it, I don't need to be surprised at your hammering times.
Greetings Heinz
(who does a bike tour in the Ardennes today - but hardly anything else during the week)
Hello Heinz,
yes what are you doing in the Ardennes at this time of year ??
well, come on, that's really not that much ... when I think of my other training partners, I feel very dim :))
Many greetings
Michael
"The one on the left in the picture" ... has open shoelaces. π
Hey Krelli,
think that's pretty good for warming up, but you're also starting from a completely different level ...
I can also start again soon with the running program you suggested. I got pretty wrapped up with the MTB and had to be sewn in an inconvenient place. But until then it was really good! Thanks again and good luck!
greeting
Tobi
yes, now I know why it overtook me !! So next time tie your shoes properly ... haha
Hi Tobi II,
So I didn't tell you about the mountain bike π In this context I can also tell you, NEVER play !! Football, most triathletes get injured right there π

krelli
are you single? otherwise, this lifestyle cannot be seriously integrated into a relationship with a family! do you already have a family? how should something like that work with children
greetings timo
Hi Timo,
good point. But no, I'm not solo and it works wonderfully.
I don't have any children yet, but even then I don't see it that closely. If I do, I will put a large part of the training in the early morning before work. Is it all a question of time management and priorities, why would you watch TV for example?
greetings
krelli
I have to agree with Tobi's opinion, especially when I look at your swimming workload (swimming is often only possible in the evening), then I'm curious how you will do your children justice! And exercise in the morning also implies that you are not home to make breakfast or take the kids to school, etc.
And when I look at your other activities (writing a book, regular long blogs), then something like that can't go well for a long time.
You will quickly notice that unforeseen things happen all the time when dealing with children and that you cannot just tell them "okay, you have a problem, but daddy has to go swimming now". As a single you can concentrate fully on the sport and only think about yourself. But if you are in a relationship and then you also have children, I can't see myself seriously mastering the same thing. So enjoy the time, because if you want to master the phase of upbringing and partnership as meticulously as the sport, then you really have something to do!
Greetings from Essen
Richard
Hello Richard,
thanks for the feedback, I assume you are already a father?
Before I start, I HAVE a relationship like the previous post and it's going wonderfully !! π
Of course, I cannot assess what will happen to me when there are children in the house. There is no question of a father having to do my workload. As you rightly say, I'll still enjoy the time until then π But nonetheless, I know how to face my later family responsibilities.
I'm really looking forward to my "parental leave" !! as soon as the worm can lie in the baby jogger, then GO! Training camp π
So no offense.
By the way, I interviewed numerous family men who run triathlons for the upcoming book and they gave us their best tips, hence my optimism π
... it will be in stores from December.
sporty greetings after dinner!

Why can some people not accept the fact that there are athletes who train more than 3 p.m. a week and still lead a completely normal life at the same time?
Keep up the good work Krelli, from left you'll see each other with a 10 ...
Greetings from Herzogenaurach
@andiii
I can accept everything! We were talking about family here. You misunderstood me! But please do the math for me with 40-50 hours of work per week plus 15-20 hours of training! It has nothing to do with acceptance. Even Krelli's carefree optimism doesn't help. Children have to be in bed by 7 p.m. at the latest by 8 p.m. How is that supposed to work seriously? Please do not misunderstand, but you will not succeed in the calculation ...
Richard
@ Richard.
You are very attentive to the fact that you are already worrying about how Krelli will look after his children later, even though they are not there yet.
Why is there so much discussion about a "problem" that has not yet arisen ???
Is there perhaps a bit of envy involved, some of whom cannot meet this quota even without children?
Instead of paying respect, the hair is looked for in the soup "Triathlete = raven father" and the like, which is a shame.
Combining work and training alone is often an organizational challenge, but the example of Krelli shows how this can be optimally combined.
I am sure that someone who acts in such a disciplined and goal-oriented manner will later also get βchild and couplingβ under one roof.
Triamones,
who has no children and who is happy to be able to devote her free time to triathlon and sleep through the night
@triamone
I think it wasn't a good comment to leave here. I am sorry if I got too close to you.
Richard
Hello Richard,
no, on the contrary, I am also happy to receive critical comments. Everyone has the right to his or her opinion.
Unless, as has sometimes happened in the past, it consists only of insults.
Greetings after dinner!
krelli
Richard is now raging in my blog ... fine ... if he has nothing else to do.
His statements are the same as here: children versus training.
This topic has to occupy him VERY much, but I'm also the wrong addressee, because I don't have any children (neglected through training).
He's probably working on his own childhood trauma because his parents only trained ;-))
Hey Triamone,
and I still don't know if Richard has any children at all? π
Despite concerns, I will put my "right" training plan on it from November onwards, but the "familiarization plan" of the last two weeks is pill palle ...
It's always easy to forget that someone who gets under 9 hours also trains properly, where else should that come from? And somehow I need new goals and want to continue, because it only helps either to train more or to train harder π
keep it up!
sporty greetings
krelli
Hi Krelli,
I'll keep my fingers crossed for you and I'm really looking forward to the book!
Against your training, mine is only pill-palle, but everyone as they like and according to their possibilities.
I can only dream of sub9, but I want to finish in May and that's a really big goal for me.
The training took place on October 1st. started and I'm totally HOT!
That we stay healthy and fit
sporty greetings
Triamones
thank you Triamone! π
You will definitely finish, if you need some advice, let me know.
greetings
