On Saturday I was absurdly still riding a mountain bike with Robert at -13 degrees, if I add the wind, temperatures of -20 degrees quickly come together. Apart from the fact that we barely made it through all the snow, I will probably leave out such units in the future.
Already during the ride my fingers (had pulled my thick snowboard gloves over them!) Were really freezing and I had to stop a few times on the way back to bring them back to life. The gloves that keep my fingers warm in such temperatures have yet to be invented.
When I got home, then the shock! After standing in the hallway for 5 minutes and my fingers really burned so badly in the glove that I could just sit there and wait until it stopped, because it was really "pain", I took off my gloves and saw 3 fingers on one of them and the little finger of the other hand was white as chalk! And only up to the knuckles. The parts felt like dead, were freezing cold and completely numb. I've never seen 1st degree frostbite before, but I'm sure they were!
Afterwards, I stood a little anxiously under the warm shower for half an hour. Slowly the fingers turned from white to purple and then dark red. Even today, two days later, they are swollen and still feel a little numb.
So be sure to wear warm gloves the next time. The most important thing is that they are "windproof" (apparently my snowboard things weren't), and mittens are warmer than gloves.
Christmas in the Ore Mountains
From tonight I'll be with my family to have a happy meal there for the next few days, to relax, to finally see my parents, grandparents and brothers again and to celebrate Christmas.
Of course, you shouldn't forget some exercise, so I threw my racing bike, mountain bike and swimming and running gear into my car. The training camp can begin !! π
If the snow conditions are suitable, I will be back on cross-country skis for a long time. As a child and teenager I was a ski jumper and I was not bad in the "Nordic Combined" either. I can still do that a little today π
The plan consists of 2-3 units a day, mostly running in the forest early, cycling or cross-country skiing after lunch and swimming for an hour in the evening in the "Hohensteiner Hallenbad", which with 29 degrees in the swimmer's pool really offers subtropical bathing temperatures. The water in Hawaii is nothing against it !! haha
And the best part about the whole plan is no work, nap every day and of course you shouldn't forget your food intake, which is most likely available in more than adequate quantities. Every year I tell my mom and grandma to "don't buy any candy" for the holidays !!! What will the whole house be filled with when I come tonight? ... with kilos of chocolate, gummy bears and other sweets, of course!
Hey, but somehow I'm looking forward to it π
Many greetings

That was already damn cold on Saturday! But as long as the fins are still on, it went well again.
Wish you happy holidays.
See you soon,
Ivan
Hello Michael,
yes, dear fingers! My roommate had the same experience last week and almost passed out from the pain when he warmed up! In the end the whole body was pale as chalk!
Hope you have recovered well!
greetings
Dennis
yes, now my fingers are slowly feeling again, but they still feel furry π
Recovery greetings to the roommate!
