The right training begins

The runners pile up on the only snow-free road! Who needs solitude and nature 😉

Just in time with the turn of the year, the days of fun training are over. Now it is time for a clever training structure to lay the foundations for the coming season. So far, fun has been the main focus, but now the important units have to be completed again.

One example is the long run. This unit should be found in every training plan, of course varying in length between 1:00 hours and 2:30 hours, depending on the competition objective in summer. After I was exclusively cross-country skiing over Christmas and fed myself 4kg over the holidays, I welcomed the new year today with a long run over 2 hours.

The running conditions were, of course, absolutely horrible, snow was everywhere! The first hour flew by and felt good, although the pace was rather moderate. After 1:20, the extra pounds were slowly becoming noticeable and a slight feeling of hunger set in. After 1:45 I noticed every single leg of goose I ate on Christmas Eve, my legs tightened and I walked as stiffly as if I had wooden boards instead of thighs. At 1:55 only my will and the anticipation of a warm shower carried me home! Fix and I opened all of them there. But on the other hand, I'm also proud of myself, that was the first long run over 2 hours in a year.

The record, well: 1:59:49
D-pulse: 146
km: 24.4 / speed / min: 4:54

But that will get a lot better in the future.
Good luck for your sporting goals in 2011 !!!
