When the temperature was below zero, we went to Herzogenaurach this morning for the HerzoCross Duathlon (4.3 / 15 / 2.5)
After a short warm-up, Frank, Jan and I plunged into the fray and started the first lap.
The competition was supposed to be the end of my 3-week block. The first section went amazingly well, here I spun back into the stadium after 4.3km as about 6th or so. Quickly grabbed the bike and off we went. Andi lent me his brand new cross bike for this, thanks! It was so brand new that it hadn't moved a single meter. Shortly before the start, I noticed that the seat post was way too short. Well, it doesn't matter, so I rode in the "children's bike style" with a 10cm butt over the back wheel ...
After my fun bike tour, I went back to the stadium in 15th place. I overtook the six starters in front of me as soon as I switched and ran out of the sports field with flags waving. I was really excited to see who would win. When Franky came towards me at some point, I was really happy for him and knew that he had most likely just "rolled over" everyone else on the bike 😉
Shortly after the changeover point, Dominik Mages ran past me, who had conjured up a 2:55 hour on the parket on his LD debut. As is always the case, when you are sure that the person you overtook will not come along anyway, then you just say “hang on”! I probably would have done it too, but unfortunately there was no one left to whom I could have shouted;))
A quick look back told me that I was able to roll into the stadium unhindered for the last 200m. A nice competition came to an end that I can only recommend to everyone. Great organization !!
Franky won ahead of Bernd Hagen in the end and Jan dipped into the midfield in his 60th competition debut, although he probably had a few problems with the mountain bike I borrowed ... hey, Jan, now you know why I didn't do it myself drove !! 😉
nice start to the week!
