Training last week

Rest week:
At the beginning and middle of the week I had a few quiet days. This was sorely necessary, as Julia had to pick me up early on Wednesday evening (after 400m) from swimming training, I was so flat 😉

After pizza and doner kebab “all day long” on Thursday, the batteries were recharged for Friday and off we went. My little personal highlight on the weekend, in addition to the Run & Bike event, happened on Saturday. With a pulse of about 10 beats below my LD competition pulse, I was able to get my long run over with at a nice average speed of 4:24 / km. If I hadn't been so empty and would have had to refill gummy bears every 10 minutes, something would even have worked 😉

  1. Tell me Krelli, do you actually only take the rest days when nothing works or do you have a plan with, for example, 3: 1?

  2. Hi,

but every now and then I incorporate planned rest periods. I would always advise newcomers to the triathlon! The older athletes can usually assess when they need rest and have developed a good body feeling for it over the years.

Every body is individual and has no idea that you are training, for example, according to a 3: 1 cycle, where from. The need for rest is of course always subject to the remaining influences that you are exposed to throughout the day ... work, family, hobbies, etc ...

That's why professionals can train so much, because they have little else to do all day apart from training and regenerating, and they can organize their time freely.

  3. That sounds good, thanks! I orient myself to the 3: 1 rhythm, but I am flexible when I notice that nothing works anymore or I can still take a unit.

Often my legs are only really "closed" after a day of rest and I need a day of easy training to get going again.
That's why I thought about whether it would make sense to do a moderate swim on the day off in the evening.

    What do you think about?

    thanks

  4. Yes, of course, as soon as you take a break, your body really goes down, it usually takes 2-3 days until you are fit again.

Take a relaxed swim or weight training would be the right thing to do, I agree with you. But then a couple of times full throttle 25, just splashing around does not bring much ...
