Triathlon swimming

Everyone celebrates in the first of May, only I sit at home and write and write. In November it will most likely be ready and a really cool book will appear. If you happen to get your hands on it at some point, think about what the author had to take on in the early part of the year! 😉

my swimming split in Hawaii was characterized by seasickness and missing my neo 😉

Swim:
This afternoon I was briefly in the stadium pool to slowly get my arms and shoulders used to new swimming. As I swung my laps in the water and watched my shadow, which was reflected on the metal floor below, the train suddenly felt completely relaxed. An almost hypnotic experience, you almost forget to breathe, you look so fascinated at your silhouette swimming in the water. Should you occasionally go to the stadium pool with its metal tub, then you may know the feeling. For my comeback strategy in swimming I have now considered the following, almost groundbreaking: I will simply increase my swimming volume !! 🙂

From my experiences over the last few years, I can at least say a few points for myself.

In order to swim comfortably under an hour, you don't necessarily need great technique (which is undoubtedly very helpful and of course makes the whole thing a lot easier), above all you need strength endurance around the upper body and especially the shoulder area. To train them, you can either go to the studio or swim more often in the Neo, or best of all, do both In no case should you wear the Neo for the first time this season, you will not be able to go 400m without you Arms seem to fall off.

However, if not every unit swims in the Neo, this worsens the feeling of water in the long term and, above all, the torso tension, because this is exactly what the Neo takes from you. In addition, there is a tendency not to move your legs at all.

Get the Neo that's best for you. In my opinion, there cannot be enough lift. Only really good swimmers can overdo it with the drive effect and should rather take a more flexible Neo, everyone else: take the bathtub !!

I've swum a lot of Neos and for me it's the Green Turtle (that's what it used to be called), now Ad-Extremum. If you ask a few who are knowledgeable, there is no other neo that gives you more buoyancy!
I can still remember Simon's face 🙂 In training, he regularly took 20-30 seconds off me in the 400m tests, but when it came to neo swimming in the competition, I was suddenly 2 minutes in front of him from the water 1,500m.

Then he really wanted my Neo in the pool against his test swim. The result even amazed me, in contrast to his Neo, he was up to 9 seconds faster on the 100m with mine after several attempts. This is more of an extreme case now, as Simon already owned an older model. Nevertheless, you should always take the times of Neos for neo test swimming, usually the Neo is not necessarily the fastest, which feels best, it doesn't matter, it just has to be fast !!

But back to the Swimming volume:
With 10km a week you should be able to swim under an hour without any problems in the long term.
15km a week should be enough in the long term to get to 3.8km in the lower 50s.
At 20km / week we have already reached the professional scopes, whoever swims so much should be able to crack the 50min at some point, assuming a bit of swimming talent.
