a few more thoughts on the previous post

First of all, do not misunderstand the article. It is not meant to be an encouragement to anorexia or anything like that. I can still remember when the first pictures for the 2011 Tri-Aktlon calendar came out. There was an immediate hail of emails and phone calls from youth and women's rights activists, pastors and others.

It's just that weight plays a big role in triathlon. The most obvious difference is when you run. Every additional kilo over the optimum costs valuable competition time. On the other hand, a weight below the optimum lacks strength, which is also a disadvantage. So it is primarily about achieving the optimal competition weight, and not about falling into an alleged madness.

Playing with the weight
The optimal weight should not be reached two days before the race, no, you should complete the entire preparation with this weight from spring. This is the only way the body can adjust to it. If you lose weight too soon before the season finale, the body loses a lot of strength that is then lacking in the competition. In that case it is better to leave the weight as it was.

Optimal weight
In order to achieve the optimum, a certain discipline is required even with increased training. We often overestimate how many calories we actually burn through exercise, especially if you've been doing the sport for a while. In addition to all the tips from the last post, there is one crucial one. I've learned this over the years and it works great.

Anything you don't want to eat mustn't be lying around at home!

That's it, so simple. If you don't want to eat sweets, don't buy any. It is much easier to pass it in the supermarket than if it is in the closet at home. At the latest after the next long unit it will be done in one piece !! And don't go shopping hungry either.

Get yourself an alternative for nibbling in between meals. It's absolutely amazing, but even when I know that the fridge is nowhere to be found, I still find myself going there and looking in several times a day. I always buy lots of Stremel salmon, which I eat instead. It may seem a bit strange, but I like it. Maybe it's because as a child I walked past a fish shop on my way back from school where I always bought a bisque herring for 10 pfennigs ๐Ÿ˜‰

happy holidays!

  1. Hello,

because for the time being it was a one-time action. Unfortunately, there aren't that many well-known triathletes in Germany, and to show the same athletes again would be a bit unimaginative. On the other hand, I simply don't have the time. I still have a few of the 2011s, so if that's something, just report it.

    Merry Christmas!
