So, the second intensive week is over and for me not without it. The Hirschbachtal time trial took place on Saturday. I think everyone had great fun again and it was a successful event. Now next Sunday only the Nuremberg Old Town Triathlon and the Run & Bike, and then I'll be done with events for this year and can concentrate more on training again.
Keyword training. I doubled the bike intervals last week and drove 10x 5km slightly above the LD competition pace. On Wednesday my medium-length bike session (unfortunately I couldn't get a long one this week) followed by a paddock run. Thursday was a bit more leisurely before it got down to business on Friday morning in the pool and later on my home route on the Diepersdorf cycle path. I was a bit jittery about the 10x 1000m, especially that it stretched like chewing gum. But that was not the case, on the contrary, the unit was done in no time. Then on Saturday the organization of the time trial and afterwards, despite the nice weather, I was no longer able to extend the cycling session any further. Somehow I didn't feel like it.
In return, the long run yesterday went great. In the middle of the midday sun to get used to the heat and get a tan, I walked up to Gersberg to the gas station, poured a cold iced tea behind my bandage and went home again. The whole thing was progressive and this time it was a lot more relaxed than the last long run. Immediately afterwards, loosely rolled out your legs for an hour and took a bath in the evening.
Comment on the long run
In runs longer than 17 miles, the body crosses a physical barrier at this point. Every additional kilometer demands the muscles more than average, and as a result, the regeneration time is considerably longer. Up to 28km everything is usually not a problem and many could theoretically run again the next day (which of course does not necessarily have to be :). However, for runs over 28km, I would always recommend taking a break the next day. Swimming as a regeneration measure also helps immensely here, as the hydrostatic pressure gently massages the entire muscle tissue.
beautiful holiday!
