Yesterday the Rothsee Triathlon was on the program. One last form test before the Challenge Roth. The starting field was strong. In addition to last year's winner Andi Dreitz (double start Saturday / Sunday), Thomas Hellriegel was also traditionally there and this year also a Clemens Coenen and many others. The event is really great, there is a lot to offer for a fair price!
Although I did quite a bit of training that week and had a 7.5 hour training day on Thursday, I somehow always felt fitter from Friday. Accordingly, I was in a good mood at 9 a.m. on Sunday morning at the start line at Rothsee. After a beating in the first few minutes, which I have never experienced before, it only calmed down shortly before the first buoy. Everyone then slid through the water at their own pace and the string of pearls that can often be observed formed when the pace is high. I couldn't tell which pearl of the necklace I was in the water, but after 9:56 p.m. I got out of the water in a new record time. I just say: Chuck Norris 😉
Get on your bike and chain on the right. The cycling went really well in the beginning. In the middle I had a little hangover and first had to get some gels. After running completely dry on Thursday, I seem to be dragging a little glycogen deficit around with me. Regardless, 20 minutes later I suddenly felt like Michael Knight and was able to ignite the turbo boost on the plane, like with KITT back then, and flew past Andi Sommer (who didn't have his best day yesterday) and almost "Funky" with waving flags Harald ”and his crew. I got off with one of the best cycling times of the day (just under an hour's drive) and started the final run in 10th position. Apparently it was the bike training on Tuesday, which has now developed its effect, see training plan above 😉
After a smooth start, I ran into the group in front of me, but couldn't get past because I had a little hangover again. After I was only in 12th place shortly before the end and I was already afraid of my goal: missing the top ten, the last 3 kilometers suddenly went better again and I ran across the finish line in a 10th place just behind Marcus Schattner.
I was really happy with the result! Here you are online: http://www.rothsee-triathlon.de/rstf/ergebnisse/ergebnisse/
Six of my athletes those who were at the start were all able to record new best times and placements, which of course makes me even more happy! While Nicole improved her time by a full 24 minutes, Graxi even set the second best bike time of the day, behind Hellriegel.
Thanks also for the many cheers on the track! Even if it was sometimes said behind me, "come the krelli is only 20 seconds ahead of you, you get him!";)))
skin in!
